On September 11-12, a series of public hearings took place in Karakalpakstan, which were held by specialists of NBT Group within the framework of a large-scale project to modernize the water supply and sanitation system.
Initiators: Asian Development Bank (ADB) and JSC “Uzsuvta’minot”.
The project is aimed at increasing the resilience of the region’s infrastructure to climate change and providing the population with reliable access to clean drinking water.
Main directions:
• construction and reconstruction of key water supply facilities;
• erection of new treatment and filtration facilities;
• modernization of pumping stations and reservoirs;
• construction of a new 97 km long water pipeline from Kungrad to Muynak, which will strengthen the region’s supply system.
The hearings became the initial stage of public discussions and then continued in other districts of Karakalpakstan, which made it possible to ensure maximum involvement of local residents and interested parties.
NBT Group is confident that the project sets new standards in water resources management and forms a sustainable model of interaction between the government, business and society.
