The project aims to support the Government program to develop micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in Uzbekistan, especially, in rural areas. The loan has been relenting by the Government to the three participating banks (PCBs) Hamkorbank, Agro bank, and Ipak Yuli Bank. The Project was categorized as C for Financial Intermediary based on ADB SPS, 2009. The project was not expected to provide a credit for activity that will: (i) acquire land, (ii) generate environmental impacts, and/or (iii) generate impact to ethnic minority/indigenous people. It is recorded that some credit has been provided for production activities. However, it does not known whether those activities generate impacts as describe in ADB SPS 2009 or subject of the Government resolution on environmental impact assessment and/or land acquisition
