The SDC contribution is carried out as components of two different projects: 1 – World Bank’s (WB’s) Rural Enterprise Support Project II (RESP II); 2 – Asian Development Bank’s (ADB’s) Water Resources Management Sector Project (WRMSP). In the RESP II, SDC contributes through parallel funding of 2 subcomponents (2b-Strengthening of WCA and WCA Support services and 2c-Support for improved irrigation and drainage technology) of the WB RESP II project.
RESP II Project objective: to increase the productivity and financial and environmental sustainability of agriculture and the profitability of agribusiness in the project area.
WRMSP Project objective: to promote IWRM through scaling up and adaptation of the innovative, participatory and demand oriented institutional arrangements achieved in the Ferghana Valley to new geographical areas, and strengthening and streamlining institutions across all levels of the water distribution hierarchy.
