Project description:

Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources (MAWR) of Uzbekistan and Farmers Association (FA) is implementing the Research Project on Measures Against Farmland Damage from Salinization (the Project) in Uzbekistan. The objective of the Project is to develop methods for measuring farmland damage from salinization in order to keep and improve agricultural productivity in irrigated farmlands of Uzbekistan.
Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan was selected as a verification study site of the Project with implementation period of 2008-2012. One of the initial activities of the Project is to conduct research activity (the Research) among 16 Water Users Associations (WUA) in 8 districts of the Syrdarya region.
