Project description:

The Poverty and Equity Global Practice together with the Social Development Team of the World Bank and Center for Strategic Development initiated Listening to the Citizens of Uzbekistan survey to assess the dynamics of household welfare of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan is embarking on significant economic reforms that will affect most citizens. The potential benefits of reform are large, but the process will be challenging, and there will be adjustment costs for some at-risk groups. The Government has prioritized dialogue with citizens, to better understand main concerns of the population and the social impacts of the reform process. The L2CU initiative is one component of the World Bank’s support of the objective. L2CU will integrate multiple approaches to monitor the wellbeing of households over time, with a focus on challenges relating to the reform agenda. It would also include mechanisms for public consultations on the results of the monitoring.
