In 2020, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection (SCEEP) and the Korea Institute of Industry and Environmental Technology (KEITI) held an official virtual meeting to launch the grant project “Master Plan for Improving Solid Waste Management in Uzbekistan”. After a successful start, the Korean consulting group visited Tashkent, including selecting a local partner for further cooperation within the framework of this project.
Nazar Business and Technology (NBT) was one of the consulting firms hosting international partners. Taking into account the unique experience, in-depth knowledge, and vast capabilities of NBT in the field of solid waste management, the Korean partners entrusted NBT with this important task.
The main features of the project are to study the morphological composition of municipal solid waste generated during four seasons of the year in 5 representative cities of the country: Fergana, Jizzak, Termez, Bukhara, Nukus, a study of the physical and chemical properties of soil at the design site in Fergana, as well as conducting topographic landfill gas survey and analysis at the landfill. Also, the project provides for the implementation of a pilot program for sorting waste in Fergana, based on the best practices in this sector in Korea.
Currently, the research is being carried out in accordance with COVID-19 measures.
